Description

The reason places like Tescos can charge a lot less is because they're not paying a middle man (the brewery) to deliver it to you. They don't pay to entertain you, cook your food and pour your drinks and clean up after you and they also have a lot more buying power too. Soda water involves artificial carbonation while sparkling mineral water comes from mineral springs or wells. Flavour In common with Dash Water, these sodas are made with infused “wonky” fruit, and offer the trinity of “no sugar, no sweeteners, no calories.” We are a B Corp, baby - Meeting high standards of overall social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. By choosing to drink Dash you can share in the smug love.

Guilt-free drinks, with zero calories and no artificial nasties, are all the rage these days. Since I gave up drinking alcohol, I’ve become a bit of a specialist in them!On a hot summer’s day, there are few things as refreshing as a glass of ice-cold sparkling water. The sharpness of the bubbles provides a crisp taste, quenching your thirst in an instant. Whether you prefer plain sparkling water, or you like it with a dash of fruity flavour, we’ve got something to satisfy you here. Dash Soda Water is really rather impressive for flavour, especially when you consider that it’s a zero calorie product with nothing artificial in it. The flavours are – with one exception – more noticeable and concentrated than they are in the (already very good) Dash waters. Rhubarb and Fiery Ginger The term soda water is an ambiguous one. This is because this term has been in usage for a long time, and people use it to refer to different beverages. Soda water was the name people first gave to commercially available artificially carbonated water; this was during the late 18 th century. At present, some people use it to refer to club soda while some use it to refer to seltzer . Are publicans now asking that supermarkets stop selling cheap coke like they keep asking them to be stopped from selling cheap beer. Note to landlords. Drop your prices for Coke and every other drink and hey more people will drink in your pubs.

We’ve recently discontinued our infused soda water to focus on creating more of your favourite sparkling flavours. But if you’re a DASH soda fan, fear not! Lots of our soda waters are super similar to our sparkling water: Ultimately, we’re coming from the perspective of being environmentalists wanting to change the world and using the medium of beer to do that,” says COO Louisa Ziane, who worked with the Carbon Trust as a climate change consultant before working on Toast Ale. When I do a soft drink review, I like to delve a little into the ethics behind the company. I’d rather support firms that “do the right thing,” both ethically and environmentally.

In the case of Dash Soda Water, sodium bicarbonate is used to create a wonderful mouthfeel, which complements spirits. Hedonistic sustainability’ is the catchphrase of Misadventure & Co, and one which is easy to get behind. The company uses baked goods to make vodka, converting the starch from the discarded products into alcohol. Since 2018 the company has received 15 rewards, and was rated 94 points on the Ultimate Beverage Challenge 2018. The range is available in bars including The Groucho Club, Petersham Nurseries and The Cavendish. Discarded’s Cascara Vermouth is usually available at Waitrose.

Finally, Dash has accreditation from B Corporation, an organisation that “balanc(es) profit with people and the planet.” Verdict Soda water is water carbonated through artificial means and contain some minerals and dissolved solids while sparkling water is bubbly and pure water that comes directly from a natural spring or well. Processing As already mentioned, these sodas have “zero” calories, although as you will see from the screenshot below, there are actually 2Kcals per 100ml. Presumably that’s few enough to qualify as “zero” from a marketing perspective. Dash has now branched off into mixers too, with the Dash Soda Water range, which is what’s reviewed here. Our Climate Footprint is 0.11kg CO2 per can. We have measured the climate footprint of all our drinks. We count it. Then we cut it. Continually putting in the hard yards to lower our impact on the planet.

THE DASH DIFFERENCE

This new range of soda waters is a great addition to Dash’s popular water range. As with every drinks range I review, there are some flavours I like better than others. However, the best of them squeeze in a LOT of taste for something that’s very healthy compared to a sugary soft drink or mixer.

Can life. Oh how we triple love aluminum cans: not only infinitely recyclable but the most lightweight material, with the lowest carbon footprint. The holy trinity of green. For me, this one is perhaps the most exciting as a mixer, as I’m a lover of ginger. I’ve taken to often using it in place of tonic when I have a Three Spirit Livener (I have a review of Three Spirit here). I suspect it would work well with gin too, and possibly whisky. The San Diego-based company started after another chance meeting, when bartender Whit Rigali and agricultural economist Samuel Chereskin met in a bar and began talking about wanting to find ways to improve food systems while showing that doing good could also be viable. After four years of research and development in a cramped garage, and learning lessons with the San Diego brewing and distilling communities, they produced their first vodka.NOTE: You can currently save 50% on all Dash waters and soda waters using code WONKYWATER50 here. Dash Soda Water Review: The Basics Dash Soda Water contains zero sugars or sweeteners, with the sodium bicarbonate (rather than sugar or sweetener) being used to reduce the “bite” of the paired spirit when mixed. How do you drink soda water with gin? Though soda water’s super fizziness means it holds alcohol better, sparkling water can still be used as a mixer. Classic spirits like vodka and gin can be paired with sparkling water to make a refreshing drink that’s a lot softer than a soda mixer. Fruit sparkling water is also a delicious way to spruce up a spritzer, especially when with wine or Aperol, like in our Peach Rosé .
