Wood must be dry, and dirt free. Remove previous coatings such as paint or varnish and clean with a biocidal wash If required, new bare timber can be cleaned and de-greased with white spirit prior to application of wood preserver Can be sprayed using an airless sprayer such as a Wagner or Graco ideally using a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle (9 – 11 thou tip).

Ensure that wooden surfaces to be treated with Barrettine Wood Preserver are clean, dry and free from surface dirt, debris and other surface contaminates. New Bare Wood Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver is a high-quality, low odour, oil based wood preserver that is deep penetrating. Barrettine wood preserver is used for wood protection against wood-destroying fungi (wet rot), wood discolouring fungi and wood-boring insects. This wood preserver provides a semi-transparent matt/satin finish allowing the natural wood texture to be visible, it can be used on pressure-treated wood, treated timber or untreated wood. This high-quality wood treatment is suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, does not require over sealing for wood protection. No subsequent topcoat is required unless for aesthetic purposes. Barrettine Wood Preserver is for outdoor use and also for use on windows/frames, external doors/frames (internal & external sections). The Barrettine Wood Preserver Clear can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. Ensure wood to be treated is dry, free from dirt and repellent coatings such as paint or varnish. (remove and sand down as required).

The Barrettine clear wood preserver can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. SPRAY APPLICATION: Can be sprayed with a traditional pump action Garden style sprayer with viton seals. Protective treatment can also be sprayed using an airless sprayer (Wagner or Graco type) ideally using a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle (9 – 11 thou tip). The sprayer must be thoroughly cleaned after application with white spirit and then oiled to protect the tip and moving parts (as per manufacturer’s instructions) Application: - by brush, dip, roller or solvent compatible low-pressure sprayer only (not high-pressure & ensure weather conditions are dry and still).

The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour. NOTE: Before overcoating, allow the wood to fully ‘weather’ after applying the preserver. This is especially important for water based paints as the wax contained in the preserver will repel the water and prevent adherence of the paint. The ‘weathering’ process can take several months. The colour swatches are an indication only and representative of the product applied to clean new/pale timber and rough sawn pine (2 coats). The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated and will darken with multiple coats. Viewing colours on multiple digital screens can vary considerably and may not be totally accurate. We always recommend carrying out a small inconspicuous test area first.
